The right toner can make or break your facial routine… Here are a few ways…
Winter Skin Care Tips
Heading into the drier months here are some tips to help manage dry winter skin at home.
- **Use a Gentle Cleanser**: Opt for a mild, hydrating cleanser that won’t strip your skin of natural oils. Avoid harsh soaps and those with strong fragrances. I tend to lean towards milky cleansers for dry skin.
- **Moisturize Immediately After Bathing**: Apply a thick moisturizer while your skin is still slightly damp after washing to lock in moisture. Look for creams containing hyaluronic acid, glycerin, or ceramides.
- **Humidify the Air**: Using a humidifier can add moisture to the dry winter air in your home, helping your skin stay hydrated.
- **Shorten Shower Time and Use Lukewarm Water**: Long, hot showers can dry out your skin. Stick to lukewarm water and limit showers to 10-15 minutes.
- **Exfoliate Gently**: Exfoliate 1-2 times a week to remove dead skin cells. Use a gentle exfoliant to avoid irritation.
- **Use a Rich Night Cream**: At night, apply a heavier cream to allow your skin to repair and retain moisture while you sleep.
- **Protect Your Skin**: Apply sunscreen even in winter, as UV rays can still damage your skin. Wear gloves and scarves to protect your skin from cold, dry air when outdoors.
- **Stay Hydrated**: Drink plenty of water and eat foods rich in omega-3s and antioxidants to keep your skin hydrated from the inside out. These steps can help keep your skin comfortable and hydrated throughout the colder months.
